We may not be able to help you navigate the subway system, but we can point you in the right direction of the best sights and sounds the Big Apple has to offer for your next day spent in the city. From scenic greenery to a swirl of neon lights, New York is the city that never sleeps for a reason — there’s so much to explore! Hail yourself a taxi with your Osgoode Marley in hand and set sail through the city streets like a local with help from our New York City travel guide…

Brooklyn

Start your morning off amongst the cobblestone streets and converted warehouses in the Brooklyn neighborhood of DUMBO for the perfect photo op with the Manhattan Bridge. Instead of taking the subway into Manhattan, take a stroll across the walking paths on the Brooklyn Bridge for panoramic views of the city skyline. Originally constructed as an alternative to the ferry between the two areas of the city, an early morning stroll offers the perfect balance of sightseeing without the bustling afternoon crowds.

Art Museums

There is no shortage of art on the island of Manhattan. Spend a few hours strolling through the halls of some of the best collections in the world to soak in art history at its finest. Within the 13-acres of space inside The Met, view 5,000 years of art covering every corner of the world from an Egyptian temple to Grecian sculptures and contemporary photography. At the MoMA, also known as the Museum of Modern Art, view pieces dating back to the 18th century from artists including Van Gogh, Salvador Dali, and Picasso. For an architectural wonder as famed as the works it houses, visit the spiral-shaped building known as the Guggenheim designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.

Central Park

Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the concrete jungle and escape into the fresh air of Central Park. Located in the heart of Manhattan, this spot of greenery stretches out over 840 acres. A favorite place for New Yorkers and tourists alike, you catch a concert in the summer, go ice skating in the winter, or head to the Loeb Boathouse to rent a rowboat to paddle your way around Central Park Lake.

High Line & Chelsea Market

Above Manhattan’s West Side sits an elevated park on a stretch of historic railroad track known as the High Line. With overhead views of the Hudson River and surrounding architecture, the High Line is an oasis of greenery offering visitors lounge chairs and live music to listen to as they take a beat off the bustling sidewalks below. With art along the High Line changing often with the seasons, it’s worth a walk each time you’re in town. Grab lunch at Chelsea Market, a food hall at the southern end of the High Line off of 16th Street. You can choose from upscale restaurants or food stalls for bite-sized snacks and on-the-go meals to enjoy on the High Line lawn. While you’re there, stop into Artists and Fleas to explore a marketplace of goods created by local vendors. If you’re lucky, you may even find yourself in the midst of a sample sale at Chelsea Market!

Shopping

Considered one of the fashion capitals of the world, New York City offers a vast shopping scene to those looking for luxury, fast fashion, and everything in-between. SoHo, known as the area south of Houston Street, is a neighborhood of chic cobblestone streets filled with upscale boutiques and specialty shops tucked into rows of townhomes. You may even spot the occasional celebrity shopping under a pair of sunglasses and a ball cap. Head up to Fifth Avenue to shop the famous street of retail, home to fashion institutions Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman, and Tinseltown's favorite Tiffany & Co.

Times Square & Broadway

As the evening approaches, head to Times Square to see the buzzing center of tourism and neon billboards in all its vibrant glory. While you’re there, catch a Broadway show at any of the 40 theaters within the famed Theatre District. Remember to grab a playbill as a souvenir as you can try to get it signed outside of the stage door after the show. If you’re looking for a late-night dinner spot, try Sardi’s or Angus McIndoe within the Theatre District. Both are favorite spots for Broadway actors, writers, and producers to make appearances at once the curtain falls.
